Jesmonite casts, work in progress, 2026

Spring news from the studio and what's ahead

As spring arrives and the studio begins to warm up, it feels like a good moment to look back over the past few months, share what’s been happening in the studio, and look ahead to what’s coming up

In brief…

It's been a busy start to 2026 with a short run of exhibitions at The Vanner Gallery and Gallery 57, alongside ongoing experimentation in the studio, opening up some new ways of working with stone and Jesmonite.

Looking back

The year began with Act I and Act II at The Vanner Gallery- two fabulous shows that introduced their new roster of artists. I’m back in the gallery until 11 April in a small group show STEREO, looking at how ideas can be explored and developed across two surfaces or pieces. Meanwhile, Material and Maker at Gallery 57 has just closed - a beautiful show and a chance to reflect on my relationship with stone and the slow but endlessly addictive process of carving.

Looking ahead

Coming up, I will  be showing a small carving in Resonance at Fabrica in Brighton (4-19 April), and three works in the sculpture garden at West Dean College in Chichester for the ROSA Botanical Fair (1–4 May, with sculptures up all month). May also brings the Brighton Open Houses - always such a lovely event to be a part of. I will be showing at Portland Place with Twofolde and guests - more to follow on this soon.

Alongside the exhibitions, the studio has been an eventful place to be over the last few months. Following a short course in mould making in January, I have been working with Jesmonite - testing different finishes and exploring how the dust created through carving might be reintroduced into the work in new ways - it is fair to say some experiments have gone better than others but I am loving the process.
